This is a used Donkey Cart Tail Gate with Folk Art Painting on it, by Italian Sicilian painter, Nerina Chiarenza. It is in Overall Good used condition. The paining is colorful paint on bear wood. The wood has aged with time, and is wonderful with a very rustic feel. When looking at the different pictures, please note that the “less vibrant” or “flatter” colors, are closer to the “in person” colors. Sometimes the pictures when being taken are “vibrant” and sometimes a little “flat” due to the lighting.
If you are not familiar with Sicilian Donkey Cart Artwork, please search for it on the internet. They have festivals and fill up their fruit carts and make a social gathering out of it. The carts can be very elaborately painted. Normal, full sized carts with elaborate painting can go for between $5,000 and $10,000, for a complete cart. This is only the tailgate portion, which would be great as a rustic fireplace piece, or as an outdoor piece near a patio, etc. There is a wire hanging on the back, because it was previously hung for display, but it’s a bit heavy for that, in my estimation, but you can be the judge of that.
The size is approximately 48x24x6 (48 is left to right, and 24 is the height, 6" deep with some metal hooks, claws, and parts).
