Classic Vintage "XXL" Road bike for taller riders. I am the original owner and this bike is a 1985 model LX-727. Steel Chro-Mo frame. Lug/tube frame construction. Manufactured in Japan. 27" seat tube. 12 speeds. Sugino crank, Shimano derailleurs, Shimano freewheel, Stem mount friction shifters and Dia-Compe brakes. Adult owned and well maintained. Bought new out of a local bike shop in the central Mid-west (The Bike Route). Almost entirely original 40 years later. Original cables and housings. Still sports a set of original "Panasonic" brand gum wall "crackproof" 90 psi road tires with no visible dry rot or cracking. Chrome and aluminum are bright. There is no rust or corrosion anywhere on this bike. All bolts are rust free. Deraileurs are clean. Dropouts are clean. Original alloy wheels/spokes are also rust free and tight. Wheel reflectors and spoke protector are still intact. Brake calipers still shine. Seat tube is free as is the fork tube/stem. Original drop bars. Original style period foam grips and Extension QR brake levers. The original OEM med grey cable housings are intact. The paint is in great condition but has normal wear and minor scuffing from cables in several spots. Factory Midnight Black paint, white/silver logos. Steel KKT trap pedals are original and their reflectors are still intact and in great condition.

This bike is only for tall people. I am 6'06" tall. I have a 36-inch inseam and the top tube is high under me. If you are tall and have never ridden a bike your size, this is the one for you. These size bikes are few and far between. As large as the frame is it is really not that heavy of a bike. Combined with Araya alloy wheels gives a "Real Steel" comfortable ride to any tall rider.

I commuted to work with this bike when it was brand new. Pulled out for occasional recreational use on bike paths since then. Never raced. Always stored indoors. Very good condition. Mechanically sound. Cable housings are OEM. The chain is rust free as well. Professionally maintained through the years. Last tune up was about 3-4 years ago.

If interested, e-mail me at the link provided in C/L mail relay. I will answer any question as best as I can. I am a bike enthusiast, not a bike mechanic. Please provide an offer and I will respond in kind.

I was going to take the time to once over this bike and do some modern upgrades, but the truth is I won't ride it that much. Let the next owner decide if he wants to change things or leave OEM.

IMHO the value of this bike lies in the frame size and its completeness. It is not an extremely rare competition model, or highly collectible. Tall frame bikes are scarce. One in this size, color, and condition will be hard to find.

The bike is still available if you can read this ad. I will remove it when it sells or expires. I am willing to consider trades for a quality tall (xxl) vintage ATB/MTB frameset. Panasonic, Trek, etc...

I am also willing to ship. Of course, my costs will have to be covered.
