Reports To: Executive Director of Product Development
Scope: Proactive Data Scientist to design, develop, maintain, and document data analysis services and products related to electronic metabolic measurement instruments in collaboration with a team of multidisciplinary engineers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• New Product Development Activities such as:
Develop, add features to, and release data analysis tools (macro collections, scripts, and software applications) for customer and in-house use.
Define and implement new data analysis product offerings in collaboration with Product Management.
Test and validate new analytical tools and/or products.
Assist Customer Support and Marketing teams with data analysis and visualization in response to customer needs.
• Sustaining Activities such as:
Maintain a library of existing data analysis tools (macro collections and scripts) for customer and in-house use.
Manage versions and fix bugs in existing data analysis tools (macros) and analysis software applications.
Test and validate existing analytical tools and/or products.
• Research Activities such as:
Design and perform experiments to gather data.
Perform exploratory data analysis on biological and other data.
Perform hypothesis-driven data analysis for product development experiments (e.g., sensor comparison and evaluation, sensitivity analyses)
Teach data science and analysis topics as part of a team in our in-house customer training courses or as ad-hoc staff training.
• Participate and provide feedback in product design review meetings.
• Write and/or review functional specifications for technical content and accuracy.

Required:

• Proficient in Statistics.
• Proficient in Time Series Analysis.
• Experience with version control systems – git and subversion.

• Able to interpret Test Data and Specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of task execution and generate results with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment and collaborate effectively with others.
• Capable of effective time management and prioritization and making progress on multiple concurrent tasks.
• Comfortable with ambiguous project/task definition and able to propose alternative solutions to technical problems.
• Ability to manage frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook software.
• Effective communicator, both orally and in writing.
Desired:
• Proficient in Signal Processing.
• Experience or knowledge of Machine Learning concepts and techniques.
• Experience with managing and merging numerous software main/release/feature branches.
• Proficient in microcontroller firmware design and development using a wide array of different microcontrollers and tool chains.
Education:
• B.S. degree in Data Science/Computational Biology with 3 years of work experience, or M.S./Ph.D. in Data Science/Computational Biology.
